What To Do In Positano? – Italy’s Most Idyllic Village

One of the most iconic images of the Amalfi Coast is the perspective of Positano from the water, with its gorgeous buildings packed wildly against the slope and elegance that changes shape.

What To Do In Postiano? - Italy's Most Idyllic Village

This is a village that has been named by some as ‘Italy’s most idyllic village’, and for good reason. The views are beautiful, and there is so much to see and witness.

In this article, we have made a list of all the things you should tick off your list before you leave this beautiful village again, and set off on your travels elsewhere. There is so much to do and see, so you should take note, and try and get through as many things as you can.

So, let’s get started. Here is what you need to do when you get to Positano.

1. Walk Along Il Sentiero Degli Dei (The Path Of Gods)

On this well-known journey from Bomerano to Nocelle, known as Il Sentiero degli Dei or ‘way of the gods’, you may avoid the tourists and enjoy the wonderful scenery down the coastline and toward the island of Capri.

The 6.5km (4mi) length of the route, which was once a mules’ path, evokes fabled visions of gods and goddesses.

The surroundings are varied, ranging from tier-like agricultural hills to odd caverns and sheer headlands that drop to a beach much below and are caressed by a dazzling ocean.

2. Travel Along The Amalfi Drive

In order to properly appreciate the breathtaking scenery along this 48 km (30 mi) segment of winding shoreline road from Sorrento to Amalfi, convince your travelling companion to take the wheel, and kick back and relax.

Offering outstanding vistas overlooking the dazzling Tyrrhenian Sea, the route follows the southern shore of the Salerno Gulf.

There is no wrong moment to start your adventure because the magnificent year-round Mediterranean sun is pretty much assured.

3. Unwind At Positano Spiaggia Grande

Positano is most commonly associated with Spiaggia Grande, a 300 m (1,000 ft) long beachfront fringed with umbrellas at the base of the vibrant terraces of the town. Take a visit, and admire the views from below.

After this, you may rent canoes or embark on a boat ride to neighboring beaches, where you can soak in the views of the Amalfi Coast.

Sit in the sun on the middle portion of the beach, on which you can spread out your blanket or reserve a sun lounger and umbrella. Or, you can visit one of the numerous eateries surrounding the seaside for a seaside meal, then come back at later for a drink or two.

4. Walk To Fornillo Beach Along The Coast

Fornillo is Positano’s second-largest beach, just behind Spiaggia Grande.

This less popular beach is about a 15-minute stroll away across a lovely scenic route, albeit it is not officially inside the hamlet.

Although there are still beach nightclubs, rows of beach towels and loungers, eateries, and water sports, this area provides a more laid-back vibe for sun enthusiasts to sit back and enjoy.

5. Check Out The Music On The Rocks Nightclub

Due to its spectacular location on the beachfront and the fact that it was sculpted out of the cliffs that surround the Spiaggia Grande’s eastern point, the nightclub is definitely one of a kind.

This is not a place to miss during your visit, especially if you want to grab a drink and have a dance.

Dress in your best outfit, and join in with the dressed-up crowd that comes here to dance to the best DJs in the area, whom have been spinning music here since the early seventies, if you like to party.

One of the nicest clubs on the island, you can anticipate paying quite premium charges, but it’s well good enough to justify the trip for the panoramic sea views and the unusual experience of clubbing inside an actual cave.

6. Grab A Bite To Eat At Saraceno D’Oro

By making a reservation for a table at Saraceno d’Oro on the first day or two of your vacation, you’ll have enough time for more than one visit, which you’ll unavoidably be eager for the moment you depart.

In Italy, minimalism is frequently the greatest option since the simple, artisanal components are so unbelievably delicious (Also check out Most Beautiful Towns In Italy). Trust us when we say that you simply cannot go wrong at this restaurant, from its fine scenery to the delicious food.

This place is well-liked because it serves straightforward dishes with top-notch regional products and has a welcoming ambiance.

7. Attend The Church Of Saint Mary Of The Assumption

The vibrant ceramic roof above the town’s recognizable church is visible from anywhere in Positano, but we recommend getting up close and personal.

A Byzantine image of the Virgin Mary was delivered to the monastery in the 12th century, when it was still a Benedictine monastery from the 10th century. Following this, the Archbishop of Amalfi decided to devote the cathedral to her, making her its patron saint.

Today, the image is still visible just above the altar. Take a visit to the church yourself, and you will be able to see it with your own eyes.

8. View The Sights Up Monte Faito

This is possibly one of the less expensive things the region has to offer, costing just €8 for a roundtrip.

From Positano, travel 50 minutes north to the Castellammare di Stabia train station, which is located at Piazza Unita’ d’Italia. You can ride a cable car up Monte Faito from there, and the ride itself gives breathtaking 360-degree panoramas of the area.

If you bring a lunch, you may happily pass a day there, taking a respite from the baking sun. When you reach the summit, you can engage in a touch of forest-basking in the cold mountain atmosphere.

Final Thoughts

Positano has some of the most beautiful scenic views in the world, from its beautiful beaches, to the view of the colorful terraces.

Whether you prefer to kick back and grab some sun rays on the beach, or you’re looking forward to dancing in a cave with a drink in your hand, you can experience it all at Positano. Just be sure to spend your time wisely.
